Yang-mu<Take you back to Hualien>

Media: Xuan paper, ink

A poet from Hualien, Yang Mu enjoyed a high reputation in the academia and the international community. Not only did he possess deep and strong feelings toward Hualien, but he also took action to demonstrate his passion and love for Hualien and contribute to the land and people. Yang contributed his knowledge everywhere around the world, while he chose to spend the rest of his life in Hualien, leaving his most complete creation experience and himself in Hualien. At the Hualien Art Exhibition, I would like to pay tribute to Yang Mu with this calligraphy work.

I choose Yang’s poem Take You Back to Hualien as the reference for writing. The whole poem is copied in the cursive script. The key vision, “花蓮 (Hualien),” is written based on the concept of the seal script. On the top of the paper, the final lines of the poem are copied. Together with the inscription, these lines form an ink-painted mountain afar. It is an attempt to depict the scenery as well as to refine and elevate the level of classic calligraphy.
