The byway behind my grandmother’s house passes over a huge ditch and leads to patches of rice fields. I can never get up early, but I am willing to do so just for the beautiful scenery of the rice fields. The wind in the early morning gently blowing and the birds chirping, I ride a bike with my brother and sister, enjoying this simple happiness.

I like the rice fields in the evening the most. The twilight dyes the rice ears into gold and pink. When it is almost the harvest season, the rice ears swing gently in the breeze shuffling. Taking off my glasses, the view becomes blurry but more beautiful.

My grandparents are both farmers. I present my favorite rice fields in an abstract way. The rice ears are made with bundles of ramie. Like farmers working the fields, the shells that symbolize preciousness and abundance are weaved into the fields with a needle and thread. This is to hope that all the hardworking people can have a fruitful outcome.
